LGBT History Month at the University of Glasgow

The rainbow flag has been raised and there is a host of events to celebrate LGBT History Month.

To mark the start of LGBT History Month the rainbow flag was raised on the south front on 1 February.

Staff and students gathered for the flag raising including representatives from the Student Representative Council (SRC), Glasgow University Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans, Queer Plus Students' Association (GULGBTQ+) and the LGBT+ Staff Network.

Lauren McDougall, VP for Student Support at the SRC said: “Raising the rainbow flag for LGBT History Month is a great statement that UofG is an inclusive and diverse place to work and study. Flying the flag at the South Front sends that message loud and proud, and we know that the University gets a lot of positive comments each year from people who have seen the flag flying from across the city.

“The SRC, GULGBTQ+ and the LGBT+ Staff Network all have a great range of events coming up for February and are proud to be working together to celebrate and recognise the LGBTQ+ community here at UofG.”

There is a host of events taking place during LGBT History month, including quizzes, film screenings, talks and the annual Queerfest event.
