Canada
The connection between Canada and Scotland extends far beyond Ogopogo and Nessie. With Nova Scotia and the other Maritime Provinces providing sanctuary to Scotland's historic highland clearance, it is no surprise that Canada now boasts a very strong Scottish cultural identity. With Canada’s first Prime Minister coming from Glasgow, we are anticipating great things from our Canadian graduates!
Canadian students have attended the University of Glasgow since the early 1880s. Many Glasgow academics have had strong links with Canada, including James McGill, founder of McGill University, who studied at Glasgow University in the 1750s. There are currently around 100 degree-seeking students from Canada at Glasgow, studying at all levels and across all faculties. In addition, we regularly welcome Canadian students to our campus via our exchange and study abroad programmes.
Glasgow - One of the best places to visit in 2012
You don't just have to take our word that Glasgow is a great place to visit. The New York Times has just voted it the 12th best place to visit in 2012. With its recently developed waterfront area, Glasgow just keeps getting cooler.
Have a look at the Visit Scotland brochure in English or French to get an idea of what Scotland and Glasgow have to offer!
