"As a German criminal defence lawyer I thoroughly enjoyed the Masters degree in International Law. It broadened my horizons in rapidly developing areas like human rights and international criminal law. I was impressed by the accessibility and friendliness of the staff. Living in the city of Glasgow with all its diversity added greatly to the experience." Anni Pues, Germany (2011/2012)

"Studying at the University of Glasgow’s School of Law is something that I would thoroughly recommend. It has been incredibly intellectually stimulating in both the curricula and extracurricular dimensions. The intellectual challenge is complemented by the very approachable staff at the School. As well as the classes there are many events and guest lectures which are an excellent way to reinforce one's study area or dip into something totally different. Such events provide a great opportunity to meet, and even network with, interesting people - fellow students and professionals alike. The diversity of the student body is a real bonus, both in terms of alternative perspectives in class and the chance to make friends from around the world; and Glasgow is a great place to socialise with friends. The West End is one of the highlights of Glasgow and being in the heart of it makes the School of Law experience all the richer." Athene Richford, UK (2011/2012)

"Studying at the University of Glasgow has been a great experience. I appreciated that there were a lot of course choices: in that way you could tailor-make your degree so that you academically and personally get the most out of it. Not only have I enjoyed the academic part of being in Glasgow, but the student life has definitely lived up to my expectations. There is always something going on in Glasgow and the choices are numerous." Ingrid Steinberg, Norway (2011/2012)

"My LLM in International Law on a part time basis has been a wonderful experience. I had to work full time, but the opportunity that Glasgow University gave me to study this Master part time, gave me a different perspective of public international law. I loved the courses I enrolled with the first year, which I considered were challenging. And in the second year I had an amazing opportunity to participate in a Moot Court Competition that took place in Frankfurt. That experience opened my views for other possibilities in the future. The LLM is not just classes, essays and exams. Students also have many possibilities for travelling within and outside UK, for example, I went to the Peace Palace in the Hague and I had a unique chance to visit the International Court of Justice. I am grateful for all the people I have met and the staff from the School of Law. I definitely recommend this experience." Caterine Arrabal Ward, UK (2010/2011)

“Studying International Law, notably International Investment Law, at the University of Glasgow is no doubt a great opportunity and plus to me as an international student from Kazakhstan. The sphere of Investment law has become crucial to Kazakhstan as my country is attracting foreign investments from year to year. Then, some of my friends that graduated from Glasgow University in previous years recommended the Law School; therefore I chose to study Law in Glasgow University. I will definitely say that is a very nice place to get experience and gain knowledge. I like the fact that our professors require us to read a lot, as we hone and master our skills to be really hard working lawyers.” Abzal Kassymzhanov, Kazakhstan (2010/2011)

"My time at the University of Glasgow has been exemplary. I have enjoyed every bit of studying the LLM in International Law, which enabled me to get to learn both the theoretical and see how the practical aspect of the law is applied in real life. I was fortunate to travel to Frankfurt for the annual Investment Moot Court competition, visit the International Court of Justice and the International Criminal Court both in the Hague, thanks to the International Law team. I have made great friends from all over the world and the best Academics that one can find in International Investment Law, International Criminal Law, Settlement of International Disputes and International Financial Regulation. Great seminars have also been organised regularly by the International Law team, kudos!" Erick Masafu, Kenya (2010/2011)

“I chose to study at the University of Glasgow because of its phenomenal reputation and location in one of the greatest cities in the world.  I particularly chose the LLM in International Law program because of the interesting course offerings and the calibre of the professors teaching them. The best things about this program are the ability to study with some of the brightest lawyers and law students in the world, the prestige of the degree upon completion and the valuable exposure to international legal concepts that are only going to be more important as the world continues to globalize. I have greatly enjoyed the friendships made at the school, the knowledge gained and the opportunity to live and study in Glasgow. Glaswegians are outstandingly friendly people. The city has great culture & nightlife, and I am able to follow my favourite football club, the Rangers!” Scott James Meyer, USA (2010/2011)

"I first found out about Glasgow University School of Law when choosing a destination for my Erasmus Exchange programme during undergraduate studies. It was my number one choice, because of the location, the courses offered and the method of teaching. It was soon clear that I would be enjoying my postgraduate degree, the LLM in International Law, at the Glasgow University, confirming it's number one status of the year before, because I'd already had such great experience there. Glasgow is a very multicultural city with loads of things to do in free time, and interesting museums, cafes, charity shops and small scale performances to discover anytime anyplace! Scotland is my second home, and I will definitely be coming back. The people here are very open and welcoming and the atmosphere in the West End, where the University campus is, is very inspiring and creative. The School of Law contributed this year to several highlights in my stay here, extracurricular seminars and guest lectures, talks with experienced practitioners, judges and world renowned legal scholars are organised regularly and enriched me greatly. The talks held are very up to date, e.g. the panel discussion about Kosovo's declaration of independence and the panel debate on the Goldstone report. Particularly exciting was our trip to The Hague, with the professors and coursemates from the Settlement of International Disputes class. We visited the PCA, sat in on a case at the ICJ (FYROM v. Greece) and visited the ICC (heard the Bemba-case) and had a conversation with the presiding judge. It was simply amazing! What I most like about the School of Law, aside for the obvious - interesting course contents, qualitative delivery and small class size - is the approachability of the academic and administrative staff. For someone from a civil law university, to address the professor by first name is quite a novelty. This direct interaction with the experienced teaching staff had a very encouraging and inspiring effect on me and allowed me to think further and wider. Now, apart from the academic experience, there are plenty of clubs and societies on campus for every interest and hobby! This way I, as a new foreign student made good friends and had lots of fun! Glasgow Uni School of Law, definitely a must!" Marina Sorkina, Belgium (2010/2011)

“I chose to move to Glasgow because of the wonderful staff, highly regarded professors, and the beautiful city. I also appreciate the friendly nature of the people. When I first arrived, I didn't know my way around the city and total strangers would give directions and help. I also love the huge areas of green space in the city and the numerous public parks.” Julie Rochester Wooten, USA (2009/2010)

“My masters degree at Glasgow was well supported by a team of excellent international law tutors; had interesting courses and throughout was a stimulating environment for further study. A decision I do not regret.” Alexandra McIntyre, UK (2009/2010)

“I found all the professors very knowledgeable about the areas of the classes in which they taught. It was especially helpful, and intriguing, to note some articles in the reading assignments written by the professor of the class. The expertise in the area of the professors teaching the course is thus impressive. The supportive collegiate environment fostered by the LLM International Law candidates was remarkable, as was the encouragement of the department of this spirit.” Masimba Mutamba, USA (2008/2009)

“I am enormously satisfied with the LLM course, the staff and the University. I will recommend it widely to anyone who wishes to pursue one in the future. A marvellous experience!” Ivonne Tellez, Argentina (2007/2008)
