Educational Studies (MEd)

Background

This programme offers an opportunity for the advanced study of education within a broad framework of core and optional courses.  The sweep of the programme is broad, representing important and influential educational ideas from a range of disciplines.

What will you get from this programme? 

You will have your thinking about education challenged and deepened through lectures, readings and discussions. An emphasis is placed upon highly-developed organisational and project management skills.  Presentation skills and communication skills (written and oral) are fostered throughout the programme.

By the end of this programme you will:

• Be familiar with important theories, concepts and debates in education and relate these to real-life educational settings
• Have critical understandings of how knowledge about education is generated through a range of disciplines and methodologies
• Be able to conduct your own investigations into areas of education of interest to you
• Think critically about educational policy and practice in ways which foster the development of both.
