Stevenson Exchange Scholarships
Stevenson Exchange Scholarships
The scholarships were founded in 1932 and 1935 by Sir Daniel Stevenson, Bt.LLD, Chancellor of the University for the promotion of friendly relations between students of Scotland, Germany, France and Spain.
To be eligible students must:
- be a student currently registered at a Scottish University or at a University in France, Germany or Spain
- be about to complete a placement or a year abroad as part of their degree in France, Germany, Spain or Scotland
- be no older than 25 (35 in special cases)
- Applicants expected to attend an interview which usually takes place in April. These interviews may be in person or take place online. These interviews are conducted by academics from Scottish University's and Glasgow Chamber of Commerece.

Variable, typically between £400 - £4,000 depending on interview performance or panel assessment
How to apply
Please request an application form from your Stevenson scholarship contact within your Scottish University. These contacts are usually asscoated with the Study abroad team or the modern languages department. For Glasgow University students please contact scholarship@glasgow.ac.uk to be put in touch with the appropriate contacts. Once the form has been completed please return it to your Stevenson scholarship contact within your Scottish University and advise them to send it to scholarship@glasgow.ac.uk.
- Germany-based applicants are selected by DAAD and should register their interest in the Stevenson scholarship when they apply to DAAD.
- Spain-based applicants should submit their application to the British Council in Madrid. The British Council is responsible for the selection of candidates.
Application for 2024/2025 academic year will open in December and will close approx March. Interviews take play in April/May and applicants are made aware out outcomes May/June.
