Professional Practice with PGDE
Programme structure
The course is designed to meet the needs of busy professionals who are studying part-time through distance learning.
To complete the remaining credits for the MEd, students need to complete the module Practitioner Enquiry and Decision Making (30 credits) followed by a Professional Practice dissertation (60 credits).
The introductory module, Practitioner Enquiry and Decision Making, promotes teachers' engagement with and in research in a range of educational settings. In this module you will critically analyse research relevant to your classroom practice and you will be supported to plan your own small-scale professional inquiry. Your learning will be supported each week by tasks and readings.
To complete the master’s programme you will be supported to develop your draft proposal into a dissertation. Students can engage in classroom-based studies, analytical literature reviews and policy studies in an area of specialist interest. Each student is assigned an online tutor who provides support through email, telephone and Skype tutorials.
