LGBTQIA+

The School of Infection & Immunity welcomes all staff and students regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity or gender expression.

Our aim is to provide a safe and welcoming space for all staff and students and we hope they have a positive experience within the School.

Organisations within the University:

LGBT+ staff or students can join the LGBT+ staff network (for staff and postgraduate students) or the GULGBTQ+ Student Association (for undergraduate students). Both of these groups regularly organise events to socialise and meet other queer people.

Support for LGBT+ staff and students:

The LGBT staff network is open to providing confidential support and advice on LGBT+ issues (this may include any experiences of homophobic, biphobic and transphobic bullying and harassment).

Contact details

Undergraduate students can contact the GULGBTQ+ Student Association for support.

In case of homophobic, biphobic and transphobic bullying and harassment, everyone can also get advice and help from the Respect Advisers Network. Staff members who have received LGBT+ allies training are indicated on the website.

The Equality and Diversity website also links to these internal organisations, as well as providing information on a range of topics such as:

Externally, these are some of the resources available:

  • LGBT Health & Wellbeing provides a variety of groups and virtual meet ups for the LGBT+ community in Scotland with local groups in Glasgow as well as a helpline.
  • Get Back OUT initiative run by LEAP Sports aimed at providing an opportunity for members of the LGBT+ community in Glasgow to meet others while being active.
