Join Sport & Recreation
As a student, staff or alumnus of the University of Glasgow you are entitled to full access membership of Sport & Recreation. We also have a variety of additional membership packages for our external community which includes your partners, family and friends.
Your Category of Membership determines which facilities you are entitled to use and also any restrictions that you have to comply with. Each Membership Category has certain eligibility criteria and conditions, details of which are available from a Sport & Recreation representative. Categories of Membership are non-transferrable.
How to join
To Join simply visit our facilities and ask at Reception. New Partner Family Friend members must have a current member present at time of joining to recommend them. New Affiliate Staff members must provide a letter of eligibility on University letterhead stating they are officially affiliate staff.

To join, visit our reception desk at either the Stevenson Building or Garscube Sports Complex where reception staff will process your membership (proof of alumni status such as your graduation certificate, general council card or letter from Registry is required when joining).

Conditions
- Membership valid for current academic year only and expires every 30 September
- Cancellation of membership requires a minimum of one month's written notice for payments by Direct Debit
- Must show proof of status. Category unavailable to all other student types.
- Student membership is non-refundable if student status ceases or you no longer choose to utilise an active membership.
- Facility access if for date, times and locations as specified. No access for courses, drop-ins or other activity is permitted outside stated membership access.
- Direct Debit memberships may be suspended for up to 6 months and automatically to restart after the suspended period. A minimum 30 days notice in writing is required and suspensions are only offered from and to Direct Debit payment dates - the 15th of each month.
Suspensions
Sport & Recreation may suspend any Direct Debit membership for a period up to 6 months if 1 months notice is provided. Suspensions are only available from Direct Debit payment dates. Please contact sport@glasgow.ac.uk with your membership details to request a suspension.
Cancellations
Sport & Recreation may cancel a membership in accordance with the Membership Agreement if 1 months notice is provided. Notice may be provided to Reception, in writing or emailed with membership details to sport@glasgow.ac.uk.
