Glasgow is an internationally recognised centre of excellence for the teaching, practice and research of Theatre Studies. With a 100% student satisfaction in the 2012 National Student Survey and 95% of students in work 6 months after graduating, it is no wonder that we are ranked number one in Scotland, according to the 2012 Complete University Guide and The Guardian league tables. All programmes benefit from strong links with industry and professional practitioners including the National Theatre of Scotland, the Playwright’s Studio Scotland, The Arches and the V&A museum. Our programmes offer a range of teaching techniques combining academic and industry knowledge.
Glasgow offers an unbeatable location for the study of theatre. The city is home to a huge variety of theatres, producing shows that range from the experimental and risky to the traditional and repertory, from canonical and new writing of devised and physical performance. Venues include: Citizens Theatre, The Arches, Tramway, Theatre Royal, The King’s Theatre, the Centre for Contemporary Arts and The Tron.
Our Masters are usually one year full-time and two years part-time and begin in September. There is also the option of the MRes in Theatre Studies, which combines taught courses with a larger independent study component.
