Destination data requests

The employment value of a degree has never been more important to students. We can provide you with the alumni statistics and information you need to demonstrate that your degree programmes enhance students' employability.

Data is provided from the national statutory Destination of Leavers of Higher Education (DLHE) survey.

Please note that the turnaround time for a data request is extremely dependent on the specifics requested and it is advisable to submit requests well in advance of any absolute deadlines.

Please contact the Survey Project Officer to submit a data request.

Input into induction talks

Approximately 15 minutes

We are delighted to provide input to induction talks and lecture series with a short introductory presentation on the ways we can help your students - quick info about our guidance appointments, recruitment fairs, skills workshops, online vacancies listings, general information resources and more.

We always stress the importance of engaging early and often with the Careers Service to students - in doing so, we encourage them to start thinking about the value of their degree to their future career prospects, enhancing engagement with their studies.

Career options presentation

Approximately 60 minutes

Students are more aware than ever of the need to investigate their career options. We can create tailor-made presentations on the career paths open to your students and back this up with examples drawn from alumni destination data and case studies.

Please contact your College Adviser to arrange for a career options talk.

Identifying and articulating skills (talks and workshops)

30 – 90 minutes

A degree alone isn't enough. Students need to demonstrate to employers that they're aware of the skills they've developed through their degrees - their ability to think critically, work independently and communicate effectively.

We can help to raise your students' awareness of their developing graduate attributes through targeted talks and workshops. Through these interventions, they'll explore how the learning, teaching and assessment methods employed within your course are building their employability skills and preparing them to enter the graduate workforce.

Please contact your College Adviser to discuss your talk/workshop requirements.

Job seeking skills (talks and workshops)

30 – 90 minutes

The competition for graduate employment is tougher than ever before. To succeed, students need to understand how to target their job search and articulate their skills, knowledge and experience clearly and effectively.

We can deliver talks and workshops that take your students through the basics of effective job seeking skills - aspects of job hunting such as the purpose and format of CVs, covering letters, application forms and interviews, and how these different elements interrelate.

Please contact your College Adviser to discuss your talk/workshop requirements.

Employability bid support

Employability is a long-standing strategic funding priority within the University and across the sector. We have extensive experience in supporting employability-related bids and can provide input to ensure such your projects are informed by best practice, viable, sustainable, and linked into wider strategic developments.

Please contact your College Adviser to discuss your bid proposals.

Embedded approaches to graduate attributes and employability

Glasgow's graduate attributes matrix describes the academic abilities, personal qualities and transferable skills that all of our students should develop during the course of their studies.

The University has made the embedding of graduate attributes within programmes and courses a strategic priority. Embedded delivery can encompass a broad spectrum of interventions, including but not limited to:

  • Raising students' awareness of their graduate attributes
  • Aligning learning and assessment practices to develop particular attributes
  • Signposting opportunities for skills development
  • Incorporating Work-related learning
  • Introducing reflection opportunities and personal development planning

The Careers Service offers dedicated support to assist staff in engaging with graduate attributes related curriculum development. Please contact the Graduate Attributes Development Adviser.

We believe in working together. Whether you are a lecturer, tutor or adviser, you will play a key role in influencing your students' views on the importance of their developing employability.
