SoE Professor Wins Scottish Women's Award

Professor Margaret Sutherland picked up the Scottish Women's Awards 2023 prize for services to education

Congratulations to School of Education Professor Margaret Sutherland on winning the Scottish Women's Awards 2023 prize for services to education.

The annual Scottish Women's Awards provide a platform for recognising and celebrating the remarkable women throughout the country who are redefining excellence in their respective domains.

The awards were presented at a ceremony held on 16 September at Glasgow's Mariott Hotel. Organisers praised the 2023 award winners for their "resilience, determination, and innovation, setting inspiring examples for future generations."

Professor Sutherland is a senior lecturer in additional support for learning at the University of Glasgow, and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts.  She is the Director of Partnerships, Communication and External Engagement in the School of Education and of the Scottish Network for Able Pupils. She has 40 years teaching experience in schools and higher education, and is the author of a number of academic papers, chapters and books on the subject. The award recognises her outstanding contributions to the field.
