PhD student supervision areas

Deirdre Shaw is interested in supervising research that explores ethical consumption and the many aspects that this can encompass including, but not restricted to, political consumption, consumer votes, marketing resistance, alternative trading structures, anti-consumption and consumer activism.

She is interested in consumers of 'new age' spirituality more generally as well as specifically linking to ethical, environmental and/or consumption concerns.

She is seeking proposals which clearly seek to develop existing consumer theory around concepts such as identity, community, theory of planned behaviour, bounded rationality, uncertainty, complexity and others areas of theoretical pertinence when applied to the areas outlined above.

Her interests are around alternative and often marginal forms of consumption/non-consumption and I am open to proposals reflective of these broader concerns.
