Launch of Performance & Development Review

The Performance and Development Review (PDR) process for all staff will launch formally on July 1st.

The Performance and Development Review (PDR) process for all staff will launch formally on July 1st.  PDR is an important means of helping our staff to realise their potential and for the University to achieve its goals.  Our PDR process helps all staff to perform at a standard expected within a University of international standing by providing a continuous cycle of individual performance planning, feedback and review.

PDR launch events across Colleges and University Services, supported by additional training and development through Staff Development Services are underway with opportunities for reviewers and reviewees to enhance their skills and knowledge of the process.

The launch events will provide staff with an overview of the key changes for this year's exercise which include a phased approach to implementation with senior management undertaking the process first during the months of May and June, allowing for a flow through and cascade of objectives to the wider staff group between July and September.  Further information relating to the performance assessment levels, which have been widened to include five possible outcomes, will also be provided.

To support the overall process this year, a PDR video has been produced which highlights the benefits of engaging in PDR from both an individual and line manager viewpoint and a 'Guide to Writing SMART Objectives' has been published which will be issued to all staff attending the launch events and any of the PDR courses run through Staff Development Services.
