Staff and students in the University of Glasgow residences worked with The British Heart Foundation (BHF) to donate unwanted items during the moving out period, raising £5,936 for the charity.

This was the first time Glasgow University has taken part in the BHF ‘Moving On’ campaign and had great success. Between the residences, students donated 424 bags of clothes, bags, books, CD’s and DVD’s.  Their efforts raised money for the charity which pioneers research into heart disease.

Karen Morton,Residences and Cleaning Services Manager, said:  “The University of Glasgow Residential Services was delighted to be able to support BHF in encouraging students to donate their unwanted items. We are delighted the students in residence took advantage of the opportunity to be environmentally friendly and charitable with their goods and hope the partnership will grow in years to come.

We are definitely continuing with the campaign. We still have bins at some of the larger residences in order for students to be able to donate throughout the year but we will be doing a push again for the end of the contract period May-June 15 and will be encouraging the students to beat last year’s figures!”
