Hootsuite is now the University of Glasgow's partner for social media management. The University's Social Media Officer, Emma Gilmartin explains.

Social media is growing at a huge rate across the university and is an important tool for many of us to carry out the work we do, writes Emma Gilmartin, Social Media Officer.

The University has just finished a two year trial, initiated by the Student Services Communications Team, using Hootsuite Enterprise – a social media management and monitoring tool that allows us to work in this way.

Teams that were involved in the trial outside the Communications office include: Careers, Library, Big Data, Adam Smith Business School, DAO, College of Arts, Sport and Recreation and RIO.

Due to the success of this two year trial with Hootsuite, we have just renewed our contract with them and they are now the University’s social media partner of choice. If you manage social networks for the University we would encourage you to think about investing in Hootsuite for your own area of the University. This would include training and support from Hootsuite as well as ‘super admins’ within the University.

If you are interested in finding out more and joining this partnership for your own social media activity, then get in touch with Emma Gilmartin, Social Media Officer.
