University Institute Lisbon, Portugal

ISCTE-IUL was established in Lisbon in 1972 as ISCTE and became University Institute Lisbon (IUL) in 2009. This public university pursuing teaching, research and community service activities plays a major role in educating qualified specialists and personnel, whose cultural, scientific and technical skills enable them to contribute to sustainable development both at the national and the global level. With approximately 9000 students it is proud to be one of the most dynamic and innovative universities in the country.

Lisbon, the largest city in Portugal, is one of the oldest cities in the world, and one of the oldest in Western Europe, predating other modern European capitals such as London, Paris, and Rome by centuries. In a city that has been influenced by many different far-off cultures over time, there is still a village feel in each historic neighbourhood. Points of interest are World Heritage Sites, the Belem Tower, and the Jeronimo Monastery, as well as the old town of Alfama.
