KU Leuven (sometimes known as Katholieke Universiteit Leuven) is Belgium's largest university and, founded in 1425, one of the oldest and most renowned universities in Europe. As a leading European research university and co-founder of the League of European Research Universities (LERU), KU Leuven offers a wide variety of programmes, all supported by high-quality, innovative, interdisciplinary research.

Leuven (Louvain in French) is an ancient capital, a prominent brewing centre and Flanders’ oldest university town. In term time, and even during holidays, some 25,000 students give the city an upbeat, creative air.
