If you want to participate in the only truly extreme sport at the University of Glasgow, then there's no better place to do it than GU Skydiving Club!
Your First Jump
Most of our members come to us having never skydived before, and that’s totally okay! We offer regular solo static line courses that teach you everything you need to know, from the beginning right up to your first jump, which you will complete all by yourself! We know that may sound scary, but you can rest assured that you will receive the highest quality of training from the best instructors at Skydive Strathallan, our home drop zone.
The courses that we offer take place at the weekend and at the moment we offer no midweek training options. We prefer that you keep the whole weekend of your training free, however this is not essential so no need to worry if this isn’t possible for you!
If you don't fancy jumping out of a plane on your own then don't worry, Skydive Strathallan can also offer you the opportunity to do a tandem jump attached to an extremely experienced skydiving instructor; let them do all the work while you sit back and enjoy the ride!
Progression
After completing your first jump – the price for which is included in your course price – you will then have the option to continue on to progression jumps for as little as £35 each and be ready for your first freefall in as few as five jumps! If you're feeling extra ambitious, you can then continue to work towards getting your very own skydiving licence.
Once you’ve completed your first jump course, feel free to return to Skydive Strathallan any weekend you’re free to continue your progression.
Our current focus is on helping our members progress and facilitating as many members as possible gaining their skydiving licences, in order to help achieve our slightly longer-term goals, some of which include forming national competition teams, and trips abroad.
Membership
Our membership prices vary from year to year, however we do offer a freshers’ discount if you sign up at the start of the year, so make sure to make the most of it! You don’t even need to be a fresher!
While we know that skydiving can be an expensive sport, we aim to make it as affordable and accessible as possible and are constantly doing our best to keep our prices to a student budget, so check out our social media for our current prices.
Socials
Our socials for the 2023-24 academic year will take place on Tuesdays at 8 pm at The West End Wendy on Byres Road, however, make sure to also keep an eye on our social media to stay in the loop for anything different we may be doing.

How to Join
Joining this Club is a simple, three-step process:
- Join UofG Sport with one of these five memberships only:
- Student Sport 12-month Off-Peak (£120)
- Student Sport Semester Off-Peak (£69)
- Student Sport 12-month Full-Access (£170)
- Student Sport Semester Full-Access (£99)
- Student Sport Accommodation 12-month Full-Access (£120)*
- Contact the Club about what membership type you should select (if you're unsure) or if you have any questions
- Use the Club Management Portal to join the Club online
