Abstract

Given a tensor-triangulated category T, a longstanding open problem is the classification of localizing tensor-ideal subcategories of T. While this problem remains elusive in absolute generality, the subject has recently seen important progress in the classification of smashing tensor-ideals with the introduction of a space called the smashing spectrum. We will discuss various results when the smashing spectrum classifies the localizing tensor-ideals of T; in short, when T is stratified. We will illustrate these ideas on the derived category over the integers.
