Research Interests
Contemporary Scottish and British film and television, particularly representations of the past, and auto/biographical representation. Developments in non-fiction/documentary television and debates about self-presentation, cultural value, national culture and related film & television institutions. Film exhibition in non-theatrical/makeshift spaces, the idea of rural cinema and related developments in film/cinema history.
Research Projects
Current research includes a project concerned with mapping the history, reception and geography of the cinema in rural Scotland.
