"Negative memorability of consumer experiences in tourism"
Thursday, 09 May 2024. 10:30-12:00
Room 141, Adam Smith Business School & PGT Hub

Abstract

Tourism is always portrayed in an idyllic manner, especially on social media, but what about the less pleasant experiences that remain etched in consumer memories? Which mechanisms tie tourists' emotions with a specific situation, their memories, and their storytelling associated with that experience? And what happens when those emotions, memories, and stories are negative? The aim of this exploration is to expand our understanding of negative memorability in tourism and the role that immersive technologies can play to address negative memories.
