As a research community we are proud of the history and reputation of Archaeology at the University of Glasgow for innovative applications of archaeological theory and for conducting research that explores the wider contribution of cultural heritage to society.

Our research is grounded in archaeological practice – fieldwork, artefact analysis, applications of digital and computational methods, and engagement with diverse communities and organisations. Our methodological strengths lie in material culture, landscape studies, and approaches to engagement with contemporary communities. Our fieldwork and research is focused on Scotland in context, and on the Mediterranean and Near East, where we have a longstanding engagement and current active research projects.
