The University of Glasgow has been notified by the University and College Union that its members have been called to take industrial action on Thursday 6 February and Monday 10 February 2014 in support of its national dispute over 2013/14 pay negotiations.

The University of Glasgow has been notified by the University and College Union (UCU) that its members have been called to take day-long industrial action on Thursday 6 February and to stage another two-hour stoppage on Monday 10 February 2014 in support of its national dispute over 2013/14 pay negotiations. The latter action is scheduled from 9am-11am.

The stoppage on Thursday 6 February is a joint action with UNISON, Unite and the EIS.

A letter has gone to staff in the categories represented by UCU giving the University’s position on the strike action.   Any member of staff who participates in this action will be committing a breach of contract, and salary deductions will be made.  Details are given in the letter sent to staff and guidance on strike action is available on the HR website:

www.gla.ac.uk/services/humanresources/a-z/industrialaction/faqs/

It is expected that those who are not taking part in strike action will attend work at their normal base or have prior approval for their absence.

The University regrets that strike action is to be taken and has requested that students are not disadvantaged.
