Chinese Consul General visits the University

The Chinese Consul General, Mr. PAN Xinchun, visited the University of Glasgow on 21st October 2014 to discuss the Chinese student and alumni experience

The Chinese Consul General, Mr. PAN Xinchun, visited the University of Glasgow on 21st October 2014 to discuss the Chinese student and alumni experience.

In recent years, the University of Glasgow has recruited an increasing number of Chinese students, particularly at the Adam Smith Business School. During his visit Mr Pan met with a number of representatives from across the University, including Principal Muscatelli and Professor Jim Love, Head of the Adam Smith Business School, to find out about the services offered to Chinese students and alumni.

He attended a presentation by University representatives which included careers support, recruitment exercises and partnerships in China.

Mr Pan attended a lunch at the Principal’s lodging and was taken for a campus tour.

Senior university staff and students of the Adam Smith Business School will meet with the Chinese Consul General again in 2015 to discuss their student experience.

Mr. Pan’s Career

Mr Pan joined the Protocol Department of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China after his graduation from China Foreign Affairs University in 1985. During his overseas career he worked respectively in the Chinese Embassies in Canada and Australia, Consulate General in Toronto, Canada as Vice Chinese Consul General and Chinese Embassy in South Africa as Counselor.

He also worked domestically in various posts including Counselor in the Department of North American and Oceanian Affairs of Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Deputy Director General of General Office of Foreign Affairs Committee of National People’s Congress of China.
