‌A University of Glasgow graduate has won the prestigious Digital Preservation Coalition (DPC) Award for the Most Distinguished Student Work in Digital Preservation at the DPC Awards Ceremony in London on 17 October.

Alasdair Bachell, who graduated last year, picked up the award for his dissertation on Game Preservation in the UK.

Alasdair studied on the MSc Information Management and Preservation programme, taught by HATII in the School of Humanities.

In his winner’s speech, Alasdair said: “Firstly I have to thank Ann Gow who has come down to London to support me. I’d also like to thank my supervisor, Matt Barr. He gave me a lot of advice and guidance which really helped me with this project. “

Alasdair finished his speech by taking a “selfie” on stage.

The DPC Awards were created in 2004 to raise awareness about digital preservation. It is the most prominent celebration of achievement for those people and organisations that have made significant and innovative contributions to ensuring our digital memory is accessible tomorrow.
