Connect with Art

Art exhibition poster - April 2014Staff and students are being invited to an art exhibition being staged on Level 5 of the St Andrew's Building, 11 Eldon Street, towards the end of this month. 

"Connecting with Art" is billed as a summer exhibition and has been organised by the students of a practical art class of one of the adult and continuing education  department (DACE) courses. 

‌It runs from Saturday 26 April through to Saturday 10 May, with the opening preview running from 10.30 am to 1 pm on Saturday 26th at which drinks and nibbles will be available and the opportunity to meet the artists. The regular opening hours will be: Monday to Friday 10am to 5pm and Saturday 10am to 1pm. 

More than a dozen artists with ages ranging from mid-20s to mid-70s have contributed in a range of styles including watercolours, oils and acrylic paint. The organisers say it is an "eclectic mix". 

Many of the art works on display will be available to buy.

BBC seeks diet volunteers

BBC Scotland is seeking volunteers for an upcoming series of programmes on BBC2 wih the working title "The Diet Experiment". Its producers claim it is a unique project bringing together Britain’s experts in genetics, biochemistry, neuroscience, nutrition science and applied behavioural medicine to test a new approach to dieting.

Our eating habits are influenced by our own particular body makeup; specifically our genes, hormones and psychology and the series will investigate whether knowing our individual biology and psychological profile means we can choose a diet that best suits us. The BBC team is looking for people who want to lose weight to take part in this experiment and plan to will track their progress over three months.
