Student email upgrade
Student Email is upgrading to Office 365 Exchange Online featuring a 50GB mailbox and joining up email with instant messaging, audio and video online collaboration!
The upgrade will start to roll out to students in November, stop for the exam period, and resume from 19 December.
You will receive an email before your mailbox is upgraded.
After the upgrade, the Office 365 portal is the recommended way to access your mailbox, and you'll still be able to access your mailbox from MyGlasgow.
If you use a shared mailbox, e.g. in a SRC or GUSA role, this will remain on Exchange 2010 and will continue to be accessed using Outlook Web Access (OWA).*
Security reminder - Email security is important. The University will NEVER ask you for your details via e-mail.
Accessing your mailbox
Your mailbox must have been upgraded by IT Services before you can access your Exchange Online mailbox. You will receive an email from IT Services before this happens. When your Exchange Online mailbox is ready, the student Outlook Web App (OWA) URL will allow you to login as normal and display the URL to Exchange Online.
*Access the shared mailbox directly using the URL https://mail.campus.gla.ac.uk/owa/YOURshared-mailbox-email-address and enter your GUID and password.
Your student email is one of the main official channels the University will use to communicate with you.
It is your responsibility to:
> Check your inbox regularly for any important updates, e.g. exam results, library reminders
> Use your student email for all email correspondence with the University, e.g. teaching staff, services
Please treat ALL unsolicited email with suspicion, regardless of whether or not the sender appears to be an organisation or person that you think that you can trust.
The University will NEVER ask you for your details via e-mail.
If you are in any doubt about whether opening something is safe, contact the IT Helpdesk.
