Important updates for the AY 2025-26 PDR cycle

Below is a summary of the key changes implemented for the 2025-26 PDR cycle

1. Simplification of Academic PDR forms (all academic career tracks)

The Overview of Performance & Development section has been expanded replacing some of the individual performance sections which previously required input providing an opportunity to present a holistic overview of achievements, contribution, and professional growth. Information relating to Outputs, Awards, and PGR Supervision will continue to auto-populate.

2. Academic staff will now upload a CV to their PDR form

To supplement the detail in the streamlined PDR form, academic staff will now upload an up to date academic CV.

3. Option to anonymously tell us if you have had a constructive PDR experience

This provides an opportunity for reviewees to indicate whether they feel they have had a constructive PDR conversation.

Responses will be treated confidentially and will be accessible only to the Performance & Reward team for reporting and analysis purposes. High-level statistical data will be shared with Senior Leaders across the University to help monitor the effectiveness and quality of the PDR process. Individual responses will not be shared with reviewers, nor will responses be attributed to individual reviewees in any reporting.

4. Greater clarity of performance against expectations of the role

A new statement has been introduced within the Reviewer Summary section of the PDR form. This statement can be selected where the reviewer considers that the reviewee is meeting or exceeding the expectations of their role. In determing this, the reviewer should take into account the relevant zone or grade information now included on the PDR form, alongside the job description, job family profiles and promotion criteria.

The statement will not be displayed for ECDP participants and colleagues at University of Glasgow Singapore, as the existing ratings will be retained for these cohorts.

5. Clearer identification of required follow-up actions and next steps arising from the PDR

A further two statements have been added to the Reviewer section of the PDR form to clearly indicate where follow up actions are required. The reviewer may select one or both, and they will also be available to ECDP and University of Glasgow Singapore colleagues.

  1. The reviewee would benefit from additional support/guidance or development to enable further progress.
  2. The Reviewer may wish to recommend that the Head of School or Service (as appropriate) reviews the completed form.
