Development and Alumni Office Staff

Ms Cathy Bell

Development Director 

Cathy manages the various elements that comprise the Development & Alumni Office. Broadly, this combines the Office's twin objectives of fund-raising from the external environment and continuing to develop a programme to promote good relations with the University's alumni. She has worked in the University's development function since 1987.

Ms Amanda McKeown

Deputy Director

Amanda joined the Development & Alumni Office in 1998 and was appointed Deputy Director of Development in 2003. Her first project at the University was managing the campaign for a new Medical School Building. She now works with the Development Team on all of the University's priority campaigns and supports the Director on various development activities.

Alumni Team

Mrs Emily Howie

Alumni Manager  

Emily is responsible for the University's global network of graduates. In this role she manages the alumni relations function of the office, including alumni services, alumni fundraising and events. She also manages the database team responsible for ensuring accurate and consistent contact information.

Mrs Sarah Armour

Alumni Volunteers Co-ordinator

Sarah is based within the Careers Service and works closely with the Development & Alumni Office and the Recruitment & International Office.  She is responsible for developing opportunities for the alumni community to support student employability and recruitment.

Mrs Barrie Bryson (p/t)

Alumni Development Officer

Barrie supports alumni fundraising, in particular co-ordinating the University's bequest programme and the Chancellor's Fund as well as working closely with the wider Alumni Team.

Miss Jessica Constable

Alumni Officer

Jessica, who has worked with the DAO since 2006, is responsible for encouraging and maintaining good relations between alumni and the University, with a particular focus on recent graduates. Through various projects Jessica works to ensure that alumni remain engaged with their Alma Mater and are encouraged to support the University.

Ms Xiang Li

Alumni Relations Officer (Adam Smith Business School)

Xiang works with Adam Smith Business School to develop alumni relations and acts as the first point of contact for business school alumni.

Mrs Emma Sloan

International Development Officer

Emma works closely with Fiona Rattray and Emily Howie to help deliver the Development & Alumni Office’s international fundraising and alumni objectives. In particular, she is responsible for building and strengthening relationships with the University’s donors and prospective donors form the United States and Canada.

Mr Ben Wilson

Alumni Development Officer

Ben joined the Development and Alumni Office in December 2012, and is responsible for the strategic growth and development of the annual giving programme, through the planning and managing of a year-round programme of fundraising campaigns. Ben also works closely with other DAO members to develop a regular programme of alumni engagement through communications and events.

Database Team

Mr James Coleman

Database Manager

James is responsible for overseeing the alumni and donor database and for all aspects of data management including the university's online Benefactor Wall, as well as ensuring the efficient and reliable operation of GUWorld. James is also project managing the expansion of access to the database as a single source of contact management information.

Mr Kevin Beck

Database Officer

Kevin started in the office in September 2012. He will work closely with James and Pete and will be responsible for assisting with the roll-out of Raiser's Edge across the University Offices and Colleges. Additionally, Kevin will develop existing recording procedures, support the Hunterian with the adoption of the new Raiser's Edge Membership module and work on our GUWorld web pages.

Mr Pete Speak

Alumni Programmes Database Officer

Pete was formerly the Senior Finance Assistant in the DAO. He is now responsible for managing the existing data held on Raiser's Edge to help sustain a successful Alumni Volunteer Programme. Additionally, he will develop existing recording procedures, identify and investigate external web technologies and look to integrate these with existing University databases.

Ms Bicola Barratt-Crane

Development Officer

Bicola joined the Development & Alumni Office in 2007 and was appointed Development Officer for the College of Arts, College of Social Sciences and the Hunterian in 2012. Her role is to implement and support college alumni engagement initiatives and fundraising in collaboration with the DAO and the colleges. She also supports the Hunterian in their development and fundraising objectives.

Mrs Kirsty Craig (p/t)

Medical Development Manager

Kirsty manages medical fundraising within the office and most recently has been working on the Beatson Pebble Appeal which funded the construction of the Beatson Translational Research Centre. Kirsty also works closely with the Donor Relations Manager in developing relationships with the University's donors and prospective donors.

Mrs Sarah Hunter (p/t)

Development & Alumni Officer, School of Veterinary Medicine

Sarah works with the School of Veterinary Medicine to take forward their fundraising priorities and acts as first point of contact for Vet alumni including support for the organisation of reunion events.

Mr Richard McConnell

College Development Officer

Richard joined the Development & Alumni Office in 2012, and was appointed Development Officer for the College of MVLS, and College of Science & Engineering. Richard is tasked with implementing and supporting the Colleges in their effort to build and maintain strong Alumni relations, and works in collaboration with the DAO in the planning of fundraising initiatives.

Mrs Laura Morton

Medical Development Officer

Laura joined the Development & Alumni Office in May 2007 as Medical Development Officer. She has responsibility for managing the donations to the Medical Fund and works with the College of Medical, Veterinary and Life Sciences in allocating these funds to the priority projects.

Ms Fiona Rattray

Donor Relations Officer

Fiona joined the Development & Alumni Office in 2012. She is responsible for the department's strategy to build and strengthen relationships with the University's donors and prospective donors. She works closely with the Director, Deputy Director, research team and development officers to help deliver the Development & Alumni Office's fundraising objectives.

Events Team

Ms Siobhan Crampsey

International Events Manager

Siobhan joined the DAO in July 2012. She is responsible for developing and implementing the University's programme of international events. Siobhan works closely with DAO, RIO, Corporate Communications and other University Colleagues, delivering activity which will enhance the profile and reputation of the University and build its educational, business and alumni networks abroad.

Mrs Clare Kidd

Events Manager (on maternity leave from Sept 2012)

Clare is Events Manager for both the Development & Alumni Office and Corporate Communications. She is responsible for the planning, organisation and management of events that come out of both departments.

Mrs Angela Campbell

Events Administrator

Angela joined the University of Glasgow in February 2000.  She administers events for both the Development & Alumni Office and Corporate Communications, working closely with Clare Laidlaw and Fiona Donnelly on events for both departments.

Events Co-ordinator

Fiona joined the University of Glasgow in March 2009 and co-ordinates events for both the Development & Alumni Office and Corporate Communications. Fiona works closely with Clare Laidlaw and Angela Campbell on the planning, organisation and management of events for both departments.

Events Manager (maternity cover)

Elaine is Events Manager for both the Development & Alumni Office and Corporate Communications. She is responsible for the planning, organisation and management of events that come out of both departments.

Research Team

Ms Morna Black

Research Manager

Morna has worked in development research since 1999. She has special research responsibility for medical projects, scholarships, alumni and prospect development in general and provides research on a wide range of issues including potential sources of funding (e.g. charitable trusts, companies and individuals) for the rest of the Development & Alumni Office's portfolio of projects. In addition, she provides assistance to the Database Manager on Raiser's Edge issues.

Val Hamilton (p/t)

Research Assistant

Val supports Morna Black in carrying out research on potential funding sources for the Development & Alumni Office's portfolio of projects. In particular, she provides research support for the Vet School Campaign.

Resource & Support Manager

Ann joined the Development & Alumni Office in 2000 and is responsible for the administration and finance functions with the department.

Mrs Ann Campbell (p/t)

Personal Assistant

Ann is PA to the Chancellor, Professor Sir Kenneth Calman, and to the Director of Development, Mrs Cathy Bell. She is also responsible for key tasks relating to office administration and is the departmental purchasing officer. Ann is administrator to the University of Glasgow Trust.

Miss Julie Smith

Departmental Secretary

Julie assists with administration within the office. She acknowledges letters, answers telephone enquiries and carries out general office duties.

Mrs Susanne Hill (p/t)

Secretary

Susanne is Secretary to Sir Michael Bond, Clerk of the Chancellor’s Fund Advisory Board and provides assistance to the General Council Clerk. She also provides administrative support for the events function and organises fundraising events.

Miss Patricia Wood

Finance Assistant

Patricia joined the Development & Alumni Office in Sept 2011. She is responsible for the Gift Aid tax submission to HMRC, maintaining departmental financial procedures, as well as developing and producing financial reports, queries & presentations to the Project Officer & Event teams. She is also responsible for analysing, reconciling and allocating philanthropic & event fee income.
