About Urban Studies research at Glasgow

Urban Studies at Glasgow is a major, world-leading centre for innovative, interdisciplinary urban research with significant impact. Our mission is to make the best research and knowledge exchange contributions we can on the most important and pressing global urban challenges. We also intend that our work is of international relevance and work to build enduring collaborations with international partners from across the globe. Our research spans all aspects of social, environmental, economic and physical change in cities. We focus on topics including, and as diverse as, communities, big data, energy and environmental justice, governance, health, housing, inequalities, migration, place, planning, transport, real estate and welfare.

In REF 2021, Urban Studies submitted to Unit of Assessment 13 (Architecture, Built environment and Planning). The panel found that 96% of our research was internationally excellent or world leading in terms of its originality, significance and rigour.
