Professor of Environment Research, Policy, Regulation and Governance for our College

Campbell is a new part-time Professor of Environment Research, Policy, Regulation and Governance in the College of Science and Engineering at University of Glasgow and will be based in the School. Since completing his PhD in Glaciology 30 years ago, he has worked largely in environment protection and economic development.  Most recently he has been the CEO of two Environmental Protection Agencies, one in Scotland and more recently in South Australia. 

One of Campbell’s aims is to help with the provision of robust, science-based, high value added public policy and practice advice as well as the delivery of integrated, high quality regulatory services.

His areas of interest and expertise are centred on policy, science and engineering aspects of air, radioactive substances, water, waste and contaminated land as well as the connected energy and resilience agendas, including around fracking and associated policy, environmental and community dynamics.  He can be contacted at: campbell.gemmell@glasgow.ac.uk
