Abstract

Perimeter, area and volume are familiar measures of geometric objects in two and three dimensions. This talk will answer the question whether there are other ways of measuring, in a way that satisfies intuitively desirable properties, subsets of Euclidean spaces. If time permits an analogous question in slightly more general contexts will also be considered.
