Abstract

Vortex equations are a class of particularly interesting non-linear partial differential equations which are interesting from several different points of view. The study of their solution spaces leads into algebraic geometry, while other approaches lead into homotopy theory. In this talk, this will be exemplified in the case of Riemann surfaces.
