Stochastic travelling waves in neural dendrites

Abstract

Stochastic forcing of a PDE will be introduced. We examine a numerical technique to compute stochastic travelling waves with reference to a fixed profile. As a result we solve for the wave front as well as an instantaneous wave speed. We apply these techniques to models of neural tissue and in particular the Baer-Rinzel model for wave propagation in dendrites. The review this model and show that the dendritic tree can act as a filter and its robustness to noise.
