Biography

Phakanadh is a PhD candidate in international law at the University of Glasgow. Her research focuses on international trade law and food safety regulation, particularly the use of scientific standards for WTO sanitary and phytosanitary measures.

Before joining the University of Glasgow, she graduated with a Bachelor of Laws (First Class Honours) from Chulalongkorn University in Thailand, where she was first inspired to become an international legal scholar. To deepen her expertise, she pursued her Masters degree (LLM) concentrating in international economic law at the University of Melbourne, Australia. Her Masters research paper on the WTO’s EC-Seal Products case inspired her to further research the interaction of trade and other values.

In addition to her education, Phakanadh has work experience with various government agencies. After her LLM graduation, she was chosen as a member of the summer internship programme at the Legal and Litigation Department, Bank of Thailand. Also, she worked as a justice officer at the International Affairs Division of Ministry of Justice in Thailand. In order to pursue her academic career, she joined the Faculty of Law, Naresuan University in Thailand as a lecturer in January 2016. As she is responsible for courses in public international law and international economic law, her PhD research would be fruitful to her contribution in Thailand.

Research Interests

International Economic law, particularly World Trade Organization Law, international food safety regulation, international trade law and other values, agriculture law, and any topics relating to public international law International Economic law, particularly World Trade Organization Law, international food safety regulation, international trade law and other values, agriculture law, and any topics relating to public international law.

Teaching

Lecturer at the Faculty of Law, Naresuan University, from January 2016 – present

I am responsible for courses such as property law, bankruptcy law, international economic law, and English for lawyers.
