Chronicle Research Group

The first of the occasional, informal meetings of the Chronicle Research Group will take place in January 2012 (exact date to be confirmed). Staff and students are invited to participate in discussions of work in progress and themes of common interest. The model is the charter workshop that has run for several years now in No9, providing a useful venue for ‘show-and-tell’, ‘how to’ and ‘whence and whither’- type discussions.  Chronicles are, of course, an essential source for the medievalist, and a dedicated workshop will be a valuable part of our research environment, PGT/PGR teaching and grant applications.

We have already had a symposium this term on the Prologue in National chronicles with colleagues from Bergen. In this second event, Dauvit Broun will present some of the problems arising from his ongoing work on the 12th-century chronicler Ralph de Diceto.

Tea, coffee and biscuits will be on offer to supplement your sandwiches.
