I have been at the Department of Civil Engineering at the University of Glasgow since March 2006.

I graduated with a Civil Engineering degree from the RWTH Aachen, Germany and obtained a PhD from Chalmers University of Technology, Goteborg, Sweden under the joint supervision of K. Gylltoft, K. Lundgren and M. Jirásek.

My research aims to predict the durability of heterogeneous materials by analysing physical processes on several scales using continuum and discrete modelling approaches. I am particularly interested to study how fracture interacts with mass transport and heat transfer and in predicting its influence on durability.
