Business School alumna and World Changing Alumni award winner Eunice Ntobedzi Hanna hosted students from UofG's FemEng in Botswana this month for an exciting trip focused on empowering women in engineering.

The 23rd of June marks International Women in Engineering Day!
Since the start of this month, students from FemEng at the University of Glasgow- a network aimed at empowering women in engineering- have been in Botswana on an exciting project visit. They have visited schools in the North region of the country, offering a diverse range of workshops, activities, and engineering courses.
They have been hosted on their trip by Adam Smith Business School alumna and Sustainable Energy Botswana director Eunice Ntobedzi Hanna (MSc Management, Enterprise and Business Growth, 2016), who in 2019 received out World Changing Alumni award for her work delivering inexpensive solar power technology across Africa.
They also met with Sian Price, British High Commissioner to Botswana, to discuss the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in the country, with particular emphasis on SDG 5, which aims to achieve gender equality. The British High Commission has made significant contributions to accelerating Botswana's clean renewable energy sector, demonstrating their commitment to these goals. The discussions also highlighted the importance of inspiring young individuals in Botswana to pursue science related courses.
The team were also delighted to learn about University of Glasgow alumna Eleanor Emery, the first female UK ambassador to Botswana from 1973 to 1977. Pictured in the frame held by the High Commissioner in the photo above, she was the first British woman to reach this rank.
