This was the first time that BEMIS has been involved in a collaborative project and the experience was beneficial to both the organisation and the sector more generally. The internship presents an opportunity for the student to transfer research findings and theory into practice. The collaborative approach provides organisations with skilled researchers, who are focussed on needs of the business with the final thesis being transferred to into practice and being used for practical purposes.

Glasgow City Council strives to use all available resources to gain a clearer understanding of the issues facing the city. There are many organisations which conduct research however they are of differing quality. Research conducted at a university level has to meet a certain standard which some companies do not always have to. The collaborative masters project therefore helps to contribute towards a more robust baseline.
