Students will be supervised and guided to produce a high quality dissertation.

Assessment

The summative assessment will be in the form of

1: A 7000 word dissertation on any topic related to Critical Care practice (90%)

2: A presentation of your dissertation (10%)

Course Aims

The aim of this course is to develop the students' ability to critically apply state-of-the-art knowledge and understanding of aspects of Critical Care. The standard of the written work produced at the end this course is expected of a quality that could be published in a peer reviewed journal.

Intended Learning Outcomes of Course

By the end of this course students will be able to:

■ Synthesise and critically evaluate the evidence base in relation to a topic in critical care

■ Demonstrate intellectual independence

■ Communicate effectively with your peers and supervisors using appropriate methods

■ Demonstrate originality and creativity in the application of knowledge and understanding in the practice of critical care

Minimum Requirement for Award of Credits

Students must submit at least 75% by weight of the components (including examinations) of the course's summative assessment.
