Summary:

We inhabit a world characterized by an aging population, where a substantial proportion of individuals grapple with multiple chronic diseases. Moreover, the undeniable presence of unjust and systemic disparities within our society is manifest. To illustrate, approximately 35% of Glasgow residents contend with deprivation, a figure ranking among the highest in Scotland. Research has consistently shown that these socioeconomic disparities exert a tangible impact on both the quality of life experienced by patients and the progression of their diseases.

Our present research proposal represents a significant stride towards elucidating this intricate interplay. It not only seeks to unravel the complex nexus of factors but also advances concrete solutions. By proposing a multifaceted approach encompassing both behavioural and clinical interventions, we aim to enhance disease management and, in turn, elevate the overall quality of life for patients. We intend to establish robust analysis pipelines focused on leukaemic patients, as their prevalence aligns with prevailing disease trends. Furthermore, our ultimate objective is to extend the scope of our research to encompass a broader spectrum of cancer types and other diseases, thereby fostering comprehensive insights into healthcare disparities and strategies for improvement.
