Justin Meggitt, Lecturer in Theology and Religious Studies at Corpus Christi College and Lecturer in New Testament at the Faculty of Divinity, Cambridge University, is the author of 'Paul, Poverty and Survival' (Edinburgh, 1998), which has been widely praised for its fundamental rethinking of the economic and social conditions of the Pauline churches in the first century world.

His more recent publications are concerned with the relationship between ancient popular culture and the development of Christianity, and his seminar paper, 'Early Christianity and Magic: Consumption and Competition', forms part of his current book-length work in progress: 'Christ and the Universe of Disease'.
