The University is pleased to offer staff over the age of 18 the opportunity to lease a car directly with Arnold Clark Affinity Cars.
It is important to note that should you wish to take up this, you will enter into a legally binding contract directly with Arnold Clark Affinity Car Leasing.
How Pesonal Car Leasing Works
A personal car lease is essentially a long-term car rental. You hire a car over a period of time at an agreed annual mileage, and simply return the car when the agreement ends. This type of agreement is a regulated hire agreement and is sometimes referred to a personal contract hire (PCH).
Arnold Clark Affinity Cars are the registered keeper of the vehicle. This means that they own the car and hire it to you over an agreed period of time. You will not own the vehicle under this agreement.
You will enter into a direct debit agreement with Arnold Clark Affinity Cars. No deductions are taken from your pay.
Eligibility
You must be a salaried member of the University of Glasgow staff, or any of its wholly owned subsidiaries with a staff number, i.e have a contract of employment issued from Human Resources, or live at the same address as a staff member.
You must be a UK resident over the age of 18 with a full and valid driving licence in order to take take out the personal lease. Arnold Clark Affinity Cars will check your personal details and carry out a credit check if you place an order.
You will need to pass the credit check in order for your order to be confirmed.

If you use your car for business purposes, you’ll need to take out additional insurance;
The University of Glasgow retains the right to veto the use of car for business purposes.
What happens should I leave the University during the lease period?
The personal lease agreement is directly between you and Arnold Clark Affinity Cars so this will not change as you will continue to make your monthly payment.
