University staff and students have the chance to play a major role as volunteers in next year's inaugural European Championships.

University staff and students have been offered the chance to play a major role in next year's inaugural European Championships.

The Championships, being co-hosted by Glasgow and Berlin in August 2018, will bring together the existing championships of seven of Europe’s leading sports into one coordinated, exciting multi-sport event.

Aquatics, cycling, gymnastics, golf, rowing and triathlon will be held in Scotland, with the German capital hosting the athletics.

The Championships offer a diverse range of volunteering roles - from being part of the legendary warm, Glasgow welcome to working alongside the international media.

The University of Glasgow wishes to support the championships in a variety of ways, including providing additional leave arrangements for staff who want to volunteer. Please visit the HR website for more information:

The 2014 Commonwealth Games, held in Glasgow, was an outstanding success with thousands of volunteers enjoying the first-hand experience of contributing to the games success: the Commonwealth Games Federation Chief Executive, Mike Hooper, called them "the standout games in the history of the movement"
