The University has been rolling out the new support structures across the colleges to excellent feedback from academics involved in research. The roll-out of the new college support teams is now complete.

New System

The University has been developing a new system to support the College Research Support teams. The development of the new Agresso research system is also now complete and, following successful testing, is being rolled out to the colleges in a phased manner. The new system is being introduced first to the Colleges of Arts and Social Sciences in February, to be followed by Science and Engineering in March, and Medical, Veterinary and Life Sciences in April.

Look out for further communications from your College Research Support teams.

Why do we need a new system?

The current research system is nearing the end of its useful life and has to be replaced. The new system will deliver a number of benefits including:

  • Current manual approval activities will be replaced by automated workflow
  • The same project number will apply throughout the project lifecycle (both pre- and post-award)
  • Streamlined processes on receipt of award:
    • No approval required on award where there are no significant changes from the previously approved application
    • Interface to create the live project in the Agresso finance system
    • Interface of new appointment data to CORE to speed up the process for recruitment of staff
    • Improved data capture and validation to enable enhanced reporting
