Join us on Thursday 9 October for a conversation with Ana Botin, the Chief Executive Officer of Santander UK plc. Ms Botin is expected to speak about universities, the UK economy and entrepreneurship. 

Ana Botin Santander 300Ana Botín has been the Chief Executive Officer of Santander UK plc since December 2010. Santander is one of Britain’s leading personal financial services companies and one of the largest providers of mortgages and savings in the UK.

Ms Botín began her career in corporate and investment banking at JP Morgan in New York before joining Banco Santander in 1988.

In 1999, Ms Botín partnered with internet entrepreneurs in an IT consultancy firm which she grew and sold to Indra, the leading Spanish technology company. During this period she also set up a €220million private equity fund, Suala, which focused on investment growth companies.

From 2002 until moving to the UK in 2010, Ms Botín was Executive Chairman of Banesto. In July 2013 she was elected to the Board of Directors of the Coca Cola Company and is also a member of the International Advisory Board of the New York Stock Exchange. Ms Botín chairs and has founded three philanthropic organisations in Spain, which promote education and small businesses. She has been a trustee of the Mayor’s Fund for London since 2012.

Ms Botín studied Economics at Bryn Mawr College and received her Master of Business Administration from Harvard Business School.
