SRC Macmillan Coffee Morning

Published: 8 September 2014

The Students' Representative Council is raising funds for Macmillan Cancer Support with a coffee morning on Friday 28 September between 10 am and 1 pm.

The Glasgow University Students' Representative Council is holding a Macmillan Coffee Morning and say they'd be delighted if staff could pop along for 'a cuppa, a natter, some yummy home-baking and to donate money to Macmillan Cancer Support'.

  • Date:  Friday 28th September
  • Time:  Pop in any time between 10 am and 1 pm
  • Venue:  Williams Room, 1st floor, John McIntyre Building

Here’s some information about how Macmillan uses your donations:

• £25 pays for a Macmillan nurse to support a family  affected by cancer for one hour.

• £138 pays for 3 hours of confidential support and information for anyone with questions or concerns about cancer.

• £61 pays for 4 hours for a Macmillan benefits adviser to help someone struggling with the costs of cancer.

• £181 could pay for a Macmillan social worker or family support worker for a day,  helping people manage the social and practical problems of living with cancer.

• £278 could keep a Macmillan information and support centre stocked for a month with all the resources it needs to support people affected by cancer.

• £370 could pay for the hire of a room for a year so a self-help and support group could hold regular meetings.

The SRC team say: 'It’s a really good cause and we want to raise as much as we can, so we’re hoping you’ll support us on the 28th.'
