Race Equality Group – Professor John Briggs (Race Equality Champion) would like to establish a University Race Equality Group (REG) which would report to the Equality and Diversity Strategy Committee. The REG is seeking representation from Black and Minority Ethnic staff from all job families.

The REG is one of many sub groups to the EDS Committee. There are also Gender, Disability, Sexual orientation (including gender reassignment) and Religion and Belief groups. Essentially the sub groups look at specific areas in relation to the protected characteristic: one of the aims of the REG will be to look in detail at ethnicity and degree classification, staff survey results, and also recruitment.

If you are interested, please email the equality@glasgow.ac.uk, outlining why you are interested and what you would like to gain from the role.

Age Equality Champion – the University has appointed Professor Jim Conroy as Age Equality Champion, he takes over from Professor Steve Beaumont. Professor Conroy said: "I am delighted to take on the role as the University’s Age Equality Champion.

"The University environment provides a unique opportunity for all ages of staff and student to work and learn together. As the demographic of staff and students in Scotland changes, the University needs to adapt its processes and practices to ensure we offer the best experience for all, and I look forward to supporting this in my new role."
