Professor Philip Schlesinger has been appointed to the content board of Ofcom, the independent regulator and competition authority for the UK communications industries.

Professor Philip Schlesinger has been appointed to the content board of Ofcom, the independent regulator and competition authority for the UK communications industries.

Professor Schlesinger, who is Professor in Cultural Policy at the Centre for Cultural Policy Research at the University of Glasgow, has been a member of Ofcom’s Advisory Committee for Scotland since 2004 and its Chairman since 2009 – a role he will continue until the end of the year.

His appointment to the Content Board begins on 1 December 2014 for a period of three years.

The Content Board is the committee of the main Ofcom Board with delegated responsibility for TV and radio content issues, including setting and enforcing quality and standards. It includes members who represent each of the four nations of the UK.
