Award for Mike Shand

The University's Mike Shand has been honoured for "an outstanding contribution to the Society of Cartographers (SOC)". He is only the fourth recipient of the SOC award.

The University's Mike Shand has been honoured for "an outstanding contribution to the Society of Cartographers (SOC)". He is only the fourth recipient of the SOC award.‌

Mike Shand School of Geographical and Earth SciencesMike is an Honorary Research Fellow with the School of Geographical and Earth Sciences and Geographical Information Systems Analyst with the Institute of Biodiversity Animal Health and Comparative Medicine.

and (GIS Analyst, BAHCM; Research Fellow, GES) became the fourth recipient of the SOC Society Award for "an outstanding contribution to the Society of Cartographers" - Mike has been the SOC Honorary Secretary for 27 years. 

The award was presented to him in September at the Society of Cartographers 50th Anniversary Conference held in the School of Geographical & Earth Sciences, University of Glasgow where the Society was founded in 1964.
